A new piece of writing is up on my free fiction page, a reflective piece, called ‘Saturday Women’. Its a small recollection, about the women I remember from my childhood. I’m still learning Twitter, still learning how WordPress works, and finding out what I need to know, so I can launch a Kindle novel on the world as soon as possible!
Boy, I’ve had a steep learning curve. 🙂 I have to give a big shout out to John Locke. Both as someone whose writing helps entertain and relax me as a reader when I come home from work. And as a person who gives some good advice to new writers on how to get ahead in the self-publishing world. Check him out here http://lethalbooks.com/.
Over the next few days, I’ll be engaging in NaNoWriMo. A National Novel Writing Competition, – actually, international- 50,000 words in 30 days. Its fun, being participated in writers all around the world, its free. If you want to find out more, well…http://www.nanowrimo.org/
Keep watching my Free Fiction page. Follow me on Twitter!@MarshaPrescod (hee! Now I know what that actually means)
I’ve just set up a Free Fiction page. It will have snippets of short stories, novels and novellas. Some of it stuff published in the past and out of print, some of it new, one offs, some works in progress. I will stick the odd journalistic or review piece on there until I set up another page for that.
Please- go and look at the fiction page and read. Constructive comments or feedback is very, very welcome 🙂
If you write, lead me to your blog, so I can do the same. If you like my stuff, or think it has potential, follow me on Twitter. I’m new to it, only got an account weeks ago, am still learning how it works, and am looking to read and follow other writers.
I LOVE the idea of a global village of writers, supporting and promoting each other. Let’s Celebrate!
I’m..trying to get the trifecta of successful self-publishing established. Kindle self-publishing account. Check. Titter account.Check. Look-at-me-I’m-a Writer!Blog. Check.Um..now I have the pieces, I have to get them all working together. As I’m not a techie, its all a mystery to me. I mean, how do you get people to ‘follow’ you, on Twitter? How do you get your short story/novel/non-fiction book converted to e-book format when you have little or no money? Ditto as regards getting a blindingly good cover, that screams to the passing web surfer ‘buy me now!’How do you find writers to become your virtual friends?
Anyhoo, here is a great couple of articles by the wonderful Holly Lisle, long time author who spends much time and effort encouraging new and aspiring authors. FAQs about self-publishing: http://bit.ly/q80Hzj and How writers (even kids writing at home) create money and jobs http://t.co/q9NfEiM
Hello. And thank you for dropping by…even though I havent really got started yet. I am Marsha Prescod, a Trinidad born, London based mother of one. And I am a writer.
In the past, I wrote (and performed) poetry. Now I am writing fiction. Short stories, novellas, novels. Science fiction and fantasy are the areas I love. But I may do film or book reviews, and the odd comment on current events. I may try detective and young adult. We’ll see.
At the moment I’m trying to get this Blog set up, and look at some of the work I’ve tinkered with over the years. Some will go up on here as freebies. Some will be ebook extracts.
Lot of work, huh? 🙂 Wish me luck!
